Boys lacrosse looks to bounce back and continue to improve

The Hopkins Boys Varsity Lacrosse team is still in search for their first win of the 2018 season. The boys fell to a very competitive Edina Hornets team by a score of 1-15 on Thursday, May 3rd as well as to the Wayzata Trojans 1-17 on Tuesday, April 30th to fall to 0-6 on the season.
Parker Stoddard, junor, tags out an Orono Spartan in their win at home. The Royals won the game 15-7.

Royals softball team looks to carry their confidence towards the end of the season

The girls softball team was swinging for the fences on Monday. The team scored 15 runs led by Parker Stoddard, junior, with three runs batted in (RBI’s).

On Fri. May, 5, the Royals baseball team will face the team that knocked them out of the sections tournament last year.

Boys tennis falls to Skippers 2-5

The Hopkins boys tennis team just finished a big match versus the Minnetonka Skippers at Minnetonka High School.

Bobby Wilson, senior, is a two-sport varsity athlete at HHS. He plays goalie for the Royals hockey team and plays third base and is also the captain for the baseball team. Earlier this school year he finished his fourth and final season for the Royals hockey team and is now getting ready to start his final season for baseball.

Parker Stoddard, junior, is a captain for the 2018 season for the Hopkins Royals softball team. The girls softball team is a very talented team that won sections last year and will look to repeat that achievement this season.

Kristin Mandeville, junior, is a multi talented lacrosse player.  Mandeville lays two different positions, attack and midfield. If you are unaware of what lacrosse positions are, attack is a player that makes plays to score. A midfielder is a combination of scoring and defense, a player that can excel on both ends of the field.

The Sophomores warm up by throwing the ball back and forth for the second day of tryouts. Teams will be announced tonight.

Baseball hosts tryouts and prepares for season

The boys baseball team will begin to suit up for tryouts during this week. The coaches of all three teams which consists of the sophomore, junior varsity and varsity teams will evaluate the players all week. Players are mainly evaluated on hitting, exit velocity, speed, fielding, and for some, pitching.
Seth Schricker, junior, tees off on hole seven at Oakridge Country Club against Minnetonka. Schricker ended with a score of 78.

Seth Schricker, junior, is the 2018 captain of the golf team. As the season approaches he continues to work on his overall skills each day.

Asher Kahn, junior, is preparing for his second year on varsity for the Hopkins ultimate frisbee team, Hurt (Hopkins Ultimate Recreation Team). Kahn has been playing for the Hopkins teams since seventh grade.

HURT takes first place in Grey Duck Invitational

The Hopkins Hurt team is off to a great start to the 2018 season. The team competed in the Grey Duck Invitational Feb. 3rd, and took home the hardware, walking away with the first place trophy. Although Edina won state last year, HURT looks to have the upper edge this season.
