Seth Schricker, junior, is the 2018 captain of the golf team. As the season approaches he continues to work on his overall skills each day.

“I’m preparing myself for the upcoming season by hitting balls, putting, and my mentality with bad shots. I have practiced every single day and I will hope to continue to do it through the season,” Schricker said.

Along with improving himself, Schricker will also need to take on the responsibilities as a captain this season. Although Schricker is a junior, he is still a captain and has to lead others even if they are older than him. Schricker has also been on the team since seventh grade and will use past experiences on the team to further help him as a leader and keep the team in a fun atmosphere.

“As the captain I will continue to lead and act as a role model to the younger golfers on the team. I will try to bring the team closer together by doing team activities along with team meals,” Schricker said.

The Royals will also have to look to their newer and younger players to help contribute to their success in the future of the program.

“There are a lot of young kids on the team and many new kids trying out. This year we are looking to develop many of the younger kids to play varsity in the future,” Schricker said.

Schricker is looking to contribute to the Royals success averaging a score in the mid seventies. The Royals overall team is averaging a score in the mid eighties.

He has multiple goals this season including leadership, quality, accuracy, and lowering his overall score.

“My overall goals for this season are to average a score of 76 in the regular season. I also will work hard to make it to state as an individual,” Schricker said.

In order for the Royals to win sections the entire team would need to shoot around a 74 which is an even par score. Although it may be difficult for the Royals to accomplish, Schricker will try his best to help prepare for a hard fought season this year.
