Player profile: Danny Dolan
Daniel Dolan, junior, runs hurdles for Hopkins boys Track and Field team. This is his first year on the team, and his main goal this season is to become a better runner.
Dolan, competing in the 100 meter and 300 meter hurdles, began the season with less than desired results. However, recently Dolan has improved and is finishing with more acceptable results.
“The biggest struggle for me this year has been getting the right technique and form to run quickly, which I have been working on this season,” Dolan said.
Dolan’s improvements have derived from working hard during practice and not giving up during competition. Dolan also skis for the alpine team during the winter, which has helped with his endurance.
“The practices are very physically demanding and the meets can be scary, but I know that if I continue to put my best foot forward, I can become a better athlete overall,” Dolan said.
Dolan’s best memory with track and field this year was when he tripped on a hurdle and flew into the hurdle in front of him.
“In my first race, my foot caught on a hurdle and I lost my balance, which made me smash into the next hurdle. It was pretty funny,” Dolan said.
