Following a controversial tie with Edina, the Hopkins Royals (6-1-2) looked to put themselves in the Lake Conference win column with a win over the Eden Prairie Eagles (3-3-2).

The Royals would have to win the game without starting goalie Jacob Ungerman, senior (sprained wrist), starting midfielder Brandon Speich, junior (red card), and starting midfielder and captain Paul Klappa, senior (tweaked hamstring).

The depleted Royals looked like they would be alright in the first half when captain Lewis Levesque, senior, gave the Royals a one goal lead off a penalty kick.

The Royals kept the tempo on the Eagles through the second half with multiple scoring chances, but had nothing to show for it on the scoreboard. A cross and a finish by Eden Prairie took away all of the Royals momentum as they tied the game three quarters of the way into the second half.

The Eagles then took this late burst of energy and turned it into a go-ahead goal by senior Alex Enter.

The Royals now turn their focus to the 10-0 Minnetonka Skippers, who gave the Royals their first loss in blowout fashion.
