Third 2019 National Signing Day sees 10 HHS athletes put pen to paper

The third and final edition of National Signing Day is here again as 10 HHS seniors choose to continue their academic and athletic careers at their respective colleges. Let’s meet the athletes.
The 200 medley relay of David Lorentz, junior, Avery Martens-Goldman, junior, Elliot Berman, NJH eighth grader, and Avi Bundt, junior, receives their fourth-place medals at the section 6AA meet.

Boys swim/dive recap of sections: Individuals look forward to State

After a successful prelims meet Feb. 23, the Royals swim and dive team placed fourth at the section finals meet on Feb. 25. The Royals compete in section 6AA, which includes teams such as Edina, St Louis Park, Minneapolis Washburn and Cretin-Derham Hall. 13 Royals qualified the section finals meet.
Avi Bundt, junior, dives in to compete in the 100 yard freestyle at True Team Sections on Jan. 21. Bundt placed eighth in the event with a time of 53.84, and the Royals placed third out of eight teams.

After 19 years of coaching swimming, Mr. Greg Bartz, math teacher, resigned from coaching the swim team. Bartz made the decision to dedicate more time on the future of his family and his job.

Boys swim and dive compete in first dual meet

Despite the loss, the Royals have celebrated many wins, including Avery Martens-Goldman, sophomore captain, placing first in the 100 breaststroke, and a close second place in the 200 medley relay for Elliot Berman, seventh grade, and Michael Korsh, Ethan Rosenthal, and Gabe Silva Reina, sophomores.

On Thurs. Jan. 8 the boys swim and dive team held a home meet against Watertown-Mayer. The boys won the meet by a score of 102-81.
