Boys lacrosse preview: facing the Skippers

The Royals Lacrosse team will take on the tenth ranked team in the state and Lake Conference rival Minnetonka tonight.

The Royals come in with a 3-8 record, including an 0-7 conference record. The Royals key to victory may be to get off to a fast start, as the Royals have been outscored by 20 goals in the first quarter. The 20 goal difference is their worst differential in any quarter this year.

The hosting Skippers will come in with a 5-6 overall record, and a 2-5 Lake Conference record. The key to victory for Minnetonka will be to keep the game close for the first three quarters. Minnetonka has been dominant in the fourth quarter, outscoring their opponents 54-21 this year.

Both teams will be relying on their depth goal scoring. While neither team has anyone on the leaderboard for points, they have some depth. Minnetonka has six players with at least ten points, while Hopkins has five.

The game also figures to be a relatively low scoring one, as neither team comes in with more than 10 goals per game. Although potentially low scoring, it should be another fierce Lake Conference showdown.

The game will take place at Minnetonka High School’s Elmer Anderson Field at 5:30 p.m on May 19.
