Boys lacrosse trounced by Trojans
Hopkins lacrosse took on Lake Conference opponent Wayzata last night at home. The final score ended up being 20-8, in favor of the visiting Trojans.
The game started off strong for the Royals, staying within a few goals through the majority of the first quarter. The first quarter ended poorly for the Royals, as they finished down by six goals.
The rest of the game did not go the Royals’ way, as Wayzata attackers started to find some leaks in the Royals defense. This led to multiple fast breaks, allowing Wayzata to keep their distance throughout the game.
Although the Royals did not end up winning, they finished with their highest scoring game in a loss this season. The Royals used their attacks well at points throughout the game.
“We scored mostly six on six,” said Dennis Plotkin, senior defense. “We were able to win one on one battles.”
The Royals offense is starting to come into its own, as the Royals have put up 17 goals in their past two games against tough opponents. This will be important for the Royals as they begin a stretch of games facing Lake Conference opponents.
The Royals’ next game is May 6 at Eden Prairie at 5:30.
