Heads have been held low all season for HHS football, and Wednesday night was no exception. HHS lost 37-0 to the Eden Prairie Eagles, on the class of 2014’s senior night.

Due to a record of 2-6, the Royals will not have a home another home game this season once section play starts. Wednesday’s contest was the last home game for this years seniors

With all three of HHS’s quarterbacks suffering injuries, wide receiver, Drew Sension, junior, took the responsibilities of playing quarterback again in his second start.

“Drew did an amazing job stepping up and playing his role,” said Kyle Johnson, junior.

The offense struggled to capitalize on good field position throughout the game.  In addition, turnovers were a main issue that contributed to the 37-0 loss.

“Once we started to move the ball up field, we would make a mistake, whether it was a bad snap or a fumble,” said Bill Atkins, junior.

The defense held it’s own, putting Eden Prairie in fourth and long situations multiple times.

“For the majority of the game, we had our safeties playing down in the box to help defend against the run.  Since the cornerbacks didn’t have any help over the top, we got beat for long plays that gave up first downs and a couple for touchdowns,” said Joey Mydra, junior.

Eden Prairie’s offense was based around their ground and pound running attack.

“It was hard to stop, but our defensive line did a good job of getting to the quarterback and not letting the offensive line reach the second level of linebackers,” Johnson said.

Tackling was subpar Wednesday as Eden Prairie running backs broke many tackles and made it into the second level.

“Everyone went to the ball really well but at times had issues wrapping up the ball carrier and dropping him to the turf,” Johnson said.

Although the outcome of the game didn’t go in the way of the Royals, it was a special and emotional way to end the regular season games.

“I was really proud of our teams effort as a whole team.  I felt like the score didn’t do justice to how well we actually played,” Mydra said.
