The Royals played their second game of the season at home last Thursday, recording their first win of the season over Apple Valley by the score of 33-17.

The Royals lost their season opener at Chaska in a week zero game by a score of 41-39.

Tyler Lee, junior, rushed for 152 yards on only 9 attempts, including 2 touchdowns. Terrance Bowers was the team’s leading receiver, racking up 85  yards and a touchdown as the Royals dominated in the second half.

In the third quarter, Lee went to the ground after a vicious hit by an Apple Valley defensive lineman, fracturing his collarbone on the play. A typical fracture of the collarbone takes anywhere between 4-8 weeks to fully heal, depending on the severity of the injury.

Back-up quarterback Oscar Johnson-Dorothy, sophomore, played the rest of the game and threw for 94 yards on 6 attempts, including one touchdown. All indications are that Johnson-Dorothy will be the quarterback for the team while Lee is injured

The Royals will take on the Maple Grove Crimson this Friday September 6, at 8:00 PM. The Crimson are ranked seventh in state, beating Armstrong 41-0 behind the strong play from running back Tahi Nomane, senior, who rushed for 246 yards and four touchdowns.
