Preparing for Spirit Week

Next Mon., Feb. 9, kicks off Winter Spirit Week – five days of Student Government choosing students’ outfits for them.

For Winter Week this year, there will be returning classics, such as Superhero Day (Tuesday) and Beach Day (Thursday), as well as some new ones, such as Groutfit Day (Monday) and Minnesota Day (Wednesday). The traditional red, pink, and white themed Valentine’s Day spirit will take place Fri., Feb. 13.

Claire Dirnberger, senior, is known for her unique and elaborate takes on spirit themes. She does not have anything planned out yet – Dirnberger said her outfit choices are pretty spontaneous – so make sure to keep an eye out for her in the hallways next week.

Dirnberger is especially excited for Minnesota Day. It gives her a lot of room for interpretation, unlike Groutfit Day.

“You can’t really do anything with that,” said Dirnberger.

Sadie Skadron, sophomore and Student Government member, plans to participate every day.

“[Spirit Week] shows a sense of community and love for each other,” said Skadron. “It shows Hopkins pride.”

Whether you go full out next week or simply wear a red shirt on Friday, try to make an effort to show your school spirit. It is fun to do and fun to see.
