Starbucks versus Caribou is a legitimate debate that a lot of people have strong feelings about. HHS recently took a poll to decide which one was better and gained a lot of feedback, obtaining opinions from numerous students. 

“I love the Starbucks Acai refresher. Caribou doesn’t top that,” said Ava Cupito, 10.

 Many students brought up refreshers when discussing things that Starbucks has, and Caribou doesn’t. Refreshers seemed to be the dealbreaker for the Starbucks lovers. 

Of the people interviewed, just under 70 percent sided with Starbucks. 

Several people said they liked Caribous coffee better, but everything else was better at Starbucks.

“Caribou has better coffee but Starbucks has a better variety of holiday drinks,” said Sophie Hoschka, 12.

The Holiday Menu was often brought into the conversation when determining what place was better, with Starbucks getting unanimous votes. Some people also stated that they thought Caribous drinks tasted too bitter, and Starbucks had the better taste overall.

Pricing played a role in some decisions. Starbucks has been getting a lot of attention recently for its high prices. Many people are limiting their Starbucks runs or even finding new coffee shops to try. 

“I vote Caribou because it is cheaper, and they have the same things as Starbucks but just a better price,” said Nora Carlin, 12. 

We also asked about the debate between the two and the food options. A good amount of people sided with Caribou when it came to this. 

“Caribou has better food, and I like its sandwiches. There are more options and are more filling,” said London Harris, 12.

Conveniency was something that played a role in people’s opinions. 

“Starbucks is more convenient, and there are more Starbucks drive-throughs near me than Caribou. I also think it tastes better overall,” said Jen Walters, a secretary at Hopkins High School. 

In the end, when it came to the better coffee place, Starbucks got more votes for multiple reasons. Its variety of drinks, convenience in locations, and better tastes sold itself for the win.
