Boys tennis eliminated in section play

The HHS boys tennis team lost 4-3 to Edina yesterday in the second round of the section tournament. The Royals had State tournament aspirations as they were ranked as the top team in the section.

“It was a tough way to end our season. We obviously had goals of accomplishing more this year, but we still had a good season,” said Jackson Diedrich, senior.

The match came down to the number one singles matchup between Manfred Barrios, senior, and Max Olson of Edina. Both Barrios and Olson are ranked in the top ten in the state, according to the Star Tribune.

Olson ended up winning the match in three sets.  It was the final match in a day full of hard-fought battles.

The Royals entered the tournament ranked third in the state.  They entered the season unranked.
