Chase Johnson, class of 2015 graduate, was the heart and soul of the Hopkins tennis team last season. The loss will hurt the Royals, but other players are stepping up and working to have a great season. The first step to that is hard work in the offseason.

It is difficult to find a useable court in Minnesota due to the rain, snow, and leaves that seem to never stop falling. The Royals have retreated to Williston and Lifetime Fitness Center to train. Now that it has warmed up outside and the courts are clean, varsity tryouts have begun.

The Royals are looking to defeat the Wayzata Trojans this season who beat them in the Section Finals match last year. To do so they will need to build a roster with players who can deliver in high intensity situations.

The Royals first match of the year will be against White Bear Lake Sat. April, 9.
