On October 20th, Ari Brace, senior, verbally committed to the University of North Dakota for the diving team.

Brace has been an active member of the Hopkins swim and dive team for 4 years and also achieved captainship this year. Performing at high levels is a standard for Brace, and she recently broke the HHS 11 dive record with a score of 441.05.

“They rate your dives on a scale of 1-10 and then multiply that score based on the difficulty of the dive,” Brace said. “It was an indescribable feeling when they released the scores. I was speechless.”

Brace is no stranger to record breaking efforts. Last spring, she also broke the pole vault record with a jump of 10’10”.

With the amount of success Brace has had in athletics, she received a great deal of interest from many universities. Ultimately, the University of North Dakota stood out as the right choice.

“The diving coach is awesome and the campus is gorgeous,” Brace said. “[North Dakota] has a great pre-med program which is what also drew me in.”
