Every year the school’s synchronized swimming team has a show for family and friends, where they display the routines they have developed so far in the season. This year’s show was on Saturday, April 27th, and went off without a hitch.

On May 25 and 26, the Royals participated in the 2017 Minnesota Synchronized Swimming State Invitational: the last meet of the 2017 season, and for three seniors, the last meet of their high school athletic careers.

Recap of first half of synchro sections

The Royals synchronized swimming team participated in the West Sections Figures meet on Tuesday, May 16 in Prior Lake. In a figures meet, a panel of judges critique each swimmer on technical merit. At the end of the meet, the scoring totals are added up and awarded points are awarded to each team.
The Long division team of Lily Provenzano, Elizabeth Coleman, and Ellen Mattson, sophomores, Lily Smith, junior, and Katie Gunderson, senior, competes their routine Battle Cry at Wayzata on April 25. The five placed second, and Wayzata defeated the Royals in their first routine meet of the season.

The Royals lost their first routine meet of the season to Wayzata on Tuesday, April 18, and hopes to improve before the next routine meet, and ultimately the state meet.

Royals synchro take first in first try-meet

The Royals won their meet against the Blake Bears and Eden Prairie Eagles on Tues., April 18. The matchup was a home, figure tri-meet, where the Royals competed against two teams. Jordan Ashby, junior, placed first overall for the Royals in the figure meet. In a figure meet, swimmers are scored by a panel of three to five judge on technical merit.
