Hopkins Volleyball wrapped up their season with a tough loss last Thursday.

The team took the match to five sets and lost 3-2.

“I think that our team played well for having so many things against us. We were brought

down due to injuries so it was a challenge to play through that, but I thought we did well,” said Talia Johnson, senior.

The team lost two of their starting players due to major injuries. The two players are Audrey Erickson, junior, and Jaz Martin, freshman.

“I thought we all fought really hard when the score was close and after losing a set we would come back and start out strong,” said Sierra zellmer, senior.

The game was also the last High School volleyball match for all of the seniors.

“After the game was tough. I am sad I will not be on the team next year. We all love eachother so much. The sad feelings after the game were brought on by all of the good times we had during the season,” said Johnson.

Zellmer also commented on what she is going to miss about the Hopkins volleyball team.

“I am going to miss the game because it has been a huge part of my life for the past 8 years and it’s going to be hard not seeing the girls everyday, and especially next year during this time of the year because we are always together, said Zellmer.

It was a sad end to the season not only for the seniors but for the rest of the team as well.

“After the match i would say we all felt shocked and sad. We all were in tears as soon as the last play was over and cried the whole way home. It was really hard because we know we could have won our section and we weren’t expecting our season to be over so quickly,” said Samantha Swenson, junior.

The returning players are looking forward to a strong season next year.

I am looking forward to being apart of the team again, even if I don’t get my spot back i’ll just be happy to be back to playing. I also think we will be pretty good next year so i’m excited for that too,” said Erickson.
