Guest Wi-Fi failure across Hopkins District
Last week, students noticed that the Wi-Fi network Hopkins-Guest was down.
Starting Oct. 19, students were unable to access the internet both on their phones and Chromebooks once they entered the campus. For some students, using their data was an option while the Wi-Fi was down. However, the method still caused problems.
“I can use my phone because of good reception, shoutout to Sprint, but it’s wasting my data.” Zach Sheldon, senior, said.
Jessica Rusciano, junior, used the school’s other Wi-Fi network, Hopkins-Net, while the guest network was down. She believes that the Hopkins-Net is faster and more reliable.
“All you have to do is use your Hopkins Moodle login information,” Rusciano said.
Ivar Nelson, Director of Technology, noted that the guest network has been a problem not only on the HHS campus but around the Hopkins district.
“The issue seems to be related to a software update that was applied to our network firewall,” Nelson said.
The guest internet returned Oct. 22.
