Have you ever hosted an exchange student before?

“Yes, I had one when I was in elementary school, and then I hosted a boy from Spain last year.”

Why did your family decide to host a foreign exchange student?

“This year, there were a lot of students coming in that didn’t have homes, so we decided that since we have had two very pleasant experiences with exchange students [in the past], we would take in another one.”

How has hosting an exchange student positively impacted your life?

“It’s really just the idea that these families have opened up their homes to my family now because we’ve hosted one of their children.”

How do you plan to help Caterina while she is here?

“Hanging out with her a lot, talking to her, and showing her what normally happens in my life.”

What do you think is the best way to academically support a foreign student?

“Answering any questions they might have and encouraging them to ask as many questions as they can to help them understand.”

Why did you come to the United States?

“For everything, for the experience.”

Has the transition from Italy to the United States been difficult?

“It’s difficult because it is all different, probably more [difficult] for my friends and family.”

How is school different?

“In Milan, I attended an artistic high school, so I know a lot of arts, but it is more modern here.”

What do you hope to do while you are in the US?

“I hope to understand the new culture and do new things.”
