Working at the Renaissance Festival

Jousting, juggling, dancing, and exotic outfits are only a few of the surprises a person would find at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival.

Mckenna Moe, senior, started working at the festival for the first time this year. She works at a boutique selling scarves.

As a part of Moe’s job, she shows off articles from her booth.

“My outfit has a sarong and different scarves around my waist as accent pieces and a coin belt. On top I wear a scarf that fits like a bandeau. I also wear a scarf as a vest and a scarf as a headband,” Moe said.

Moe has spent a lot of time at the festival in the past and was asked if she wanted to work there.

“My family had been going for a few years. We went every weekend and every year we had season passes,” said Moe.

Working at the festival also comes with special advantages for Moe. Throughout the Renaissance Festival, Moe has a pass that gives her free access to the fair and the different events at the festival.

“I get a pass so I can come in whenever I am ready to work,” Moe said

Because she has a lot of free time at the festival, she also enjoys interacting with all different people who come through the festival.

“There are so many different people. There are people who have never been to the Renaissance Festival so they ask a bunch of questions and have no idea what is going on. They are all surprised about how loud and obnoxious everybody is. I like being able to just mess around,” Moe said.

In the upcoming years, Moe hopes to keep working at the Renaissance Festival.
