Vikings take down Panthers and advance to 3-0

The Minnesota Vikings jumped to #3 in the Power Rankings according to BleacherReport.com this week, after a dominating win over the Super Bowl runner up- Carolina Panthers. After a slow start in the first half the Vikings won 22-10.

The beginning of the game was favoring the Panthers as reigning MVP Cam Newton drove his offense down the field twice on big drives. One resulting in a field goal and the other resulting in a touchdown. But the stout Vikings defense generated eight total sacks and three interceptions.

Rookie defensive end Danielle Hunter even had a safety in the first half. Our offense was kick-started by an inspiring punt return by Marcus Sherels who made a couple people miss and took it into the endzone. After that play, Sam Bradford led us down the field on our next drive and threw a beautiful pass to tight end Kyle Rudolph who made an acrobatic catch.

“The Vikings are really out here making a name for themselves,” said Carl Miller, senior.

Next week’s matchup is on Monday Night against the New York Giants who have a very talented receiving core and will be a good test for our dominating defense. The key to a win in that game is a Vikings offense that hold onto the ball and give our defense a break and not put all the workload on their shoulders.
