The Royals (2-4), hot off of their 8-0 win over Lake Conference foe Wayzata faced the Minnetonka Skippers on Wednesday, April 23. The Skippers (3-3) were coming off a 10-0 loss to Prior Lake.

The Skippers scored two runs in the 3rd and 6th inning; taking a commanding 4-0 lead. The Skippers took that lead into the final inning.

“I just knew we needed to get a few runs and I knew we were capable of that. At our last game, we had a couple of big innings with lots of runs so we need to just get the bats rolling,” Feagler said.

Although they were absent for most of the game, the bats came alive for the Royals in the bottom of the 7th inning. Haley DenHartog, senior, started off the hitting spree by knocking a base hit to left field. Emily Eiss, senior, followed DenHartog’s lead by hitting a double, advancing DenHartog to third. Brenna Falk, junior, cleared the bases with a double, scoring both of the runners on base. Falk and Michelle Guenther, senior, eventually scored the tying runs for the Royals as the Royals completed the comeback.

But the Royals weren’t finished just yet, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, Jessica Crouser, senior, was intentionally walked bringing up Lauren Feagler, senior, with the bases loaded.

“We only had one out so I knew even if I just popped up to the outfield, the runner could tag up and score so I just was just trying to hit it as far as I can.” Feagler said.

Feagler did just that but more as she crushed the ball over the left field fence giving the Royals a remarkable 8-4 victory.

“It was pretty nice, there was lots of energy with the team and it just felt good to get the win in such a big inning.” Feagler said.

The now 3-4 Royals will play Maple Grove on Friday, Apr. 24.
