DenHartog started playing baseball when she was little at the age of five or six. However, she switched to softball when she was 12.

“Softball has taught me to work hard and enjoy all the little moments because they go by really fast,” DenHartog said.

DenHartog’s best memories include playing in center field and having her sister, Haley DenHartog, 2015 HHS alumn, right next to her in left field. As well as hitting home runs and making challenging plays in the field.

During the offseason, DenHartog plays on a softball club team. Besides softball DenHartog also plays basketball which keeps her in shape for the softball season.

“My biggest challenge was when I tore my ACL last year. Recovering from my ACL tear was tough, but it also helped me appreciate sports and competition more,” DenHartog said.

DenHartog is having a great bounce back year from her ACL tear. She has contributed her talents at shortstop as well as leading off in the batting lineup.

“My goal for the rest of the season are to (as a team) win the conference championship and eventually qualify for state during the section tournament, and personally just whatever my team needs me to do to get there,” DenHartog said.
