Last Tuesday, the girls varsity swim team won their last home meet of the season against Fridley and Totino Grace. This was the first dual meet the Royals team has won in eight years.

“We were so excited, I started crying,” said Julia Johnson, senior.

A dual meet is when three teams compete against each other in one competition. During the meet, eight different events take place.

To make the night even more special, it was senior night – the last time that the seniors would compete at home.

The seniors all gave pep talks and prepared the team for their last swim at home.

“Since it was senior night, every one was more pumped up than usual. It was a really good day for everyone,” said Josie Berman, senior.

In celebration of senior night, the team had a banquet to honor the seniors.

“[We celebrated] with lots of mac and cheese and cupcakes,” Berman said.

As for future meets, the team will have one week of hard practice to prepare, then some recovery time as the week will lead up to sections.
