On Monday, May 11, the Royals softball team faced off against the Edina Hornets. With a win over the Hornets, the Royals would win the Lake Conference title. If the Royals were to lose to Edina and Minnetonka were to beat Eden Prairie (the 2014 Lake Conference champions) on Wednesday, May 13, the teams would split a share of the conference title.

Coming into the game, the Royals posted a 5-2 Lake Conference record and a 8-8 overall record. The Hornets had a 2-4 Lake Conference record and a 3-13 overall record.

Edina started the game off by scoring two runs in the bottom of the first. This would be the last time the Hornets led the game.

In the top of the second, the Royals scored three runs of their own to take the lead for good. The Royals then scored three runs in three different innings (second, fourth and sixth) throughout the game.

Lauren Feagler, senior captain, was one of the big stars of the game for the Royals. Feagler pitched a complete game for the Royals and launched a three-run home run in the top of the fourth inning.

The Royals went on to win the game by a final score of 12-7 and captured the Lake Conference title. Section seeding for the Royals will be announced this weekend.
