On Friday, Oct. 10th, the sophomore representatives for Student Government were announced over the loudspeaker during fourth block. The elected sophomores are Sadie Skadron, London Lowmanstone, Abbi Fine, Brielle Richardson, Yeng Lee, Sophia Peifer, and Joe Swenson.

7 out of the 11 possible candidates were chosen to represent the sophomore student body.

“We value everybody’s ideas and everybody’s opinions, and we encourage anybody who has anything; ideas, concerns, and suggestions- to come forth and visit us. Attend our meetings on Wednesday nights at 7:10 in the fish bowl,” said Layne Bell, Student Government Advisor. said.

This year, the amount of sophomores who ran for Student Government was higher than previous years. Many candidates chose to campaign themselves, resulting in a higher vote turnout.

“We are really happy and proud. We had over half the sophomore population voting which is exciting. We had a huge turnout for interested candidates. The numbers demonstrate that there is an interest by the sophomore population, and that is really exciting. We are proud of that as we worked hard for it,” Bell said.

Sadie Skadron, sophomore, hopes to represent the HHS student body well.

“I want to make little changes that will help students. I want to be the voice for my fellow peers and become a leader. I’m going to listen to what the students have to say and try to put that forth to the rest of Student Government,” Skadron said.

The sophomores will attend their first meeting on Wednesday morning.
