All season long the Hopkins wrestling matts have been dominated by one wrestler, junior RJ Chakolis. So much so he can count on one hand the number of times he has been taken down this year. This isn’t an unfamiliar site for Chakolis or the Hopkins wrestling team.
HHS has four representatives in St. Paul at the Xcel Energy Center today for the MSHSL individual wrestling state tournament. RJ Chakolis, sophomore, Deonte Bryant, junior, Demetrius Patton, junior, and Clifton Patterson, senior.
On Feb. 26, 2016 Nate Johnson, Jesse Sattler, juniors, and Trevon Pettigrew, senior, competed in the class 6AAA Individual Wrestling State tournament at the Xcel Energy Center.
For the Royal wrestlers who will be representing HHS, good luck. All Johnson, Pettigrew, and Sattler will go with coach Price to weigh in Thursday. Feb. 25 and then the wrestling tournament will kick off Friday. Feb 26 at the Xcel Energy Center.
On Friday, Feb. 12, the wrestling team will start their journey to state. The Royals (seventh seed) will face Eden Prairie (second seed) in the sectional tournament. The match will be hosted in the Lindbergh Center at 5:30 PM.
