Baseball: Season update Week 2
Apr 28, 2017
The HHS baseball team continues to be consistent in their season but are looking for a spark to get them going.
With the first week done and the Royals going 2-2 the second week came and the Royals did the same thing.
The Royals played four games in the span of seven days and again went 2-2 making their record 4-4 on this season.
Their first game was on Mon. April 17 against St. Michael-Albertville. In this game, Morgan Holmes, senior, hit his third homerun of the season, but this wasn’t enough for the Royals. They fell 4-7 and this marked their first back to back losses on the season.
The Royals were able to get back on track and win their next two games. Their first win came against Irondale where they won 7-4. They played again the next day against Benilde St. Margaret’s.
In this game the Royals put together an amazing performance in the fifth inning scoring seven runs and boosting them to a 12-5 win.
With their final game of this stretch, the Royals got a rematch against the Wayzata Trojans. This game looked to be coming down to a close one, but a few errors at the end of the game helped lift the Trojans to a 5-1 win.
Though the Royals scored a run in this game, unlike the last meeting, their offense was still struggling.
The Royals are now 0-2 against the Trojans this year with one game left in this matchup. On top of that the Royals are also 0-2 in conference games with their first game against Wayzata being non-conference.
The Royals aren’t the only team that remain winless within the conference. The Eden Prairie Eagles are also 0-3. Those two teams match up later today (Fri. April 28) to start another back to back games for the Royals.
The second game for the Royals will send them to Totino Grace on Saturday.
The Royals will end their first part of the season today with their game against the Eagles. They will open up the second half versus Totino Grace on Saturday.
The Royals will look to make their second half of the season better than the first and finish about .500.
