Ben Serstock, junior lacrosse goalie, is looking lead the Royals to a successful season.

Serstock has been in lacrosse for a long time. He’s also had some good genes giving him a boost.

“I started playing lacrosse in third grade and I’ve enjoyed every second of it,” Serstock said. “I’ve also been around lacrosse my whole life because my dad played in college at Gustavus Adolphus College.”

Serstock has been training hard for the upcoming season.

“I’ve been playing a lot with my club team and captains practices are starting up. I can’t wait to get back at it,” Serstock said.

Serstock has had an unusual offseason this year. He was invited to be the Royals hockey JV goalie.

“[Being a] hockey goalie is a lot different [than lacrosse goalie] because all the shots are coming off the [ice], but in lacrosse the shots can come from anywhere really,” Serstock said. “Skating makes everything harder, but saving lacrosse shots hurts a lot more because you have less padding.”

Playing hockey actually helped improve his lacrosse skills.

“Hockey was a really good time. It ended up improving my reaction to low shots tremendously,” Serstock said. “It also kept me in good shape for the lacrosse season.”

Serstock has goals this season he believes are necessary for the team to win.

“I want to really get the guys going. I want the guys to have a good time, but at the same time work hard to get better,” Serstock said. “This can be a really good season.”
