Wolves game cancelled after wet court incident
Mar 7, 2017
Last night, the Minnesota Timberwolves were scheduled to play a regular season game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Once the teams arrived and started to warm up they noticed that the court was wet. The Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard called for the game to be cancelled.
Earlier this week the Target Center hosted Disney on Ice, and due to the temperature of the Target Center and the humidity outside the court was covered in a thin layer of water.
To combat the issue the Target Center had many people mopping the court and cooling down the stadium in order to lower the humidity.
Despite these efforts the Target Center and players both agreed that the surface was unplayable, and around 7:00 p.m. they called the game off.
The game has yet to be rescheduled, and there has been no word from the NBA on when it will be played.
Both the Timberwolves and Trail Blazers are fighting for a playoff spot and with the Trail Blazers being a game back from the eighth seed and the Timberwolves being 3.5 games.
This game had it been played, would have been a great regular season matchup. The Timberwolves are lead by Karl Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins who are averaging 24 and 23.3 points respectively.
The Trail Blazers are led by Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum who are averaging 26 and 23.3 respectively.
The next matchup for the Timberwolves is against the Los Angeles Clippers, tomorrow night at Target Center
