Intramural preview: Championship

Mar 3, 2017

Intramural basketball is a basketball league for HHS students. It has been going on for the past nine weeks. Last week was the first and second rounds of the tournament.

The games are self-officiated and conflicts are dealt by “shooting for it,” that means that one of the teams shoots a three pointer. If that team makes it, they get the call and if they miss it, the other team gets the call.

A typical game lasts around 25 minutes and the teams play every Friday after school.

This year there are nine teams and eight of them made it into the playoffs. Today is the championship and is taking place at 3:30 in the HHS old gym.

The championship game will be between the teams ‘So Much’, fourth seed, and ‘Chicken Noodle Hoop’, second seed.

Instead of a 25 minute game, this championship game will be two 20 minute halves to determine the champion.

Last week, ‘So Much’ beat the number one seed ‘Big Homies’ in overtime. Overtime consists of 5 players shooting free-throws and whichever team makes more wins.

‘Chicken Noodle Hoop’ defeated the third seed, ‘Ernie’s Playhouse’.
