Tomorrow Fri., Mar. 3, the Royals boys basketball team will host the Minnetonka Skippers. Coming into this game, the Royals are 20-5 and are on a eight game win streak and look to finish the regular season with momentum.
The Royals were able to win their last game in a nail-biter against a very skilled Minneapolis North team. They won 95-92 and were led by Simon Wright, senior, who dropped 27 points, 22 of which came in the first half.
The Royals have already played and defeated the Skippers this season with a final score of 71-65. In that meeting, the Royals had to come back from behind win. Blaise Beauchamp, freshman, and Ish El-Amin, senior, carried the Royals by each netting 20 points. Wright also contributed 16 points in the win.
El-Amin, Wright, and Beauchamp have had a big impact on the Royals this season: averaging 20.6, 15.8 and 12.2 points per game, respectively.
The Skippers will also be playing in their last game of the regular season. Unlike the Royals, the Skippers will be looking to turn things around after back-to-back loses. Their most recent loss came against the Wayzata Trojans, where they lost 58-65.
As the Skippers having a 12-13 record, they will look to get back to .500 with a win in this game.
The Skippers are led by Burt Hedstrom, and former Royal, Zeke Carver-Bagley, seniors. The two of them are averaging 16.9 and 13.2 points per game, respectively.
The game will take place at the Lindbergh Center at 7 o’clock.
