Both the boys and girls nordic teams proved they were skiing with a chip on their shoulders this past Wednesday Feb. 8, at sections.
Sections were held at Hyland Hills Ski Area. Hyland was in top condition for this big tournament. Multiple skiers referred to the snow being really fast.
“The trails were really fast. Conditions were cold and icy,” said Isaac Eng, junior. “It’s always fun competing on well groomed snow.”
“Sections went well. The snow was really fast. Coaches did a great job waxing,” said Logan Hoffman, junior.
Hoffman had a great day on the trails. In fact, Hoffman his way into state. This will be his first appearance at state in his ski career. Hoffman is ecstatic to go an event as big as the state tournament.
“I’m really looking forward to experience the tough environment at state. I’ve never experienced something like it,” Hoffman said. “I won’t be alone because the girls team will be coming with me.”
It was loud and it was tense at Hyland this past Wednesday.
“The atmosphere at sections were really intense. There was a lot of people and especially when you crossed the finish line, you experienced a feeling like no other,” Hoffman said.
The girls team did extremely well. As a team, they qualified for state. Renae Anderson, senior, was excited that her team did so well.
“Sections went really well. The team is extremely pumped about making it to state. I’m really proud of our team. We’ve been building it for many years,” Anderson said. “We didn’t make it last year, so the team cannot wait to compete at the next level.”
