Spice Girls and Sweet Dreams: Royelles prepare for sections
Feb 3, 2017
This Saturday, the Royelles will be competing in sections against Champlin Park, Chanhassen, Chaska, Eden Prairie, Edina, Maple Grove, Minneapolis Southwest, Minneapolis Washburn, Minnetonka, Osseo, Robbinsdale, Shakopee, and Wayzata. The Royelles will be competing in both kick and jazz dances.
The Royelles are extremely excited to compete at sections this year. Additionally, they are hoping to place second or third in kick which would advance them to the state tournament and fourth in jazz. The season has gone very well for the dance team this year.
“This has been the best season yet since I have been of the team,” Amanda Natoli, senior, said. “Both our jazz and kick dances are very strong and our team is really united. We were third for kick in our all conference championship.”
The team is most excited to perform the kick dance because of its high energy and fun atmosphere. Because of the Spice Girls theme, the Royelles get very into the whole dance with exciting facials and strong movements.
“We all love these dances so much that we just want these performances to be our very best since it could possibly be our last time,” Natoli said.
For some, this will be the last sections they will participate in, so all have high expectations and hope to go to state.
“Our motto is: leave it on the floor knowing you couldn’t have done anything better,” Natoli said.
Sections will take place at Chanhassen High School on Feb. 4th. Doors open at 12:15pm and the competition starts at 1pm. To show support for the HHS dance team wear blue and cheer loud.
