Royals boys basketball weekend summary
After going 1-2 over the weekend, the Royals still have their toughest task of the season ahead of them
Jan 17, 2017
The Hopkins Royals boys basketball team currently has an 11-4 record after losses over the weekend to Wayzata and Maple Grove, and a win over Minneapolis Henry.
The loss to Wayzata was by 26, while the loss to Maple Grove was only by 11.
In the Royals 30 point win over Minneapolis Henry, Simon Wright, senior, led all scorers with 23 points. Ishmael El-Amin, senior, added 20 points, while Blaise Beauchamp, freshman, added 15 points.
The Royals shouldn’t be worried about their record so far this season, according to El-Amin.
“We just need to have a short term memory and get ready for a good week of practice,” El-Amin said. “I’m happy with where we are at but I am also excited to see how we will improve.”
The Royals will be back in action on Fri. Jan. 20, when they hope to secure their first Lake Conference victory, over the Eden Prairie Eagles. After that game, the Royals will play again on Thurs. Jan. 26, when they will host the #1 ranked team in the state, the Champlin Park Rebels.
