The Royals boys basketball team has a non-conference home game tonight at 7pm, in which they will host the Cristo Rey Jesuit Pumas. The Royals hope to pick up another non-conference win after beating Waconia on Jan. 3rd.

So far this season, the Royals (8-2) have been powered by Ishmael El-Amin, and Simon Wright, seniors, who are averaging 23.5 and 15.1 points per game respectively.

The Pumas (4-4) will rely on their star forward Jericho Sims, senior, who has committed to the University of Texas-Austin this fall. Sims is averaging 24.4 points per game. Franklin Doyle, junior, is also averaging 10 points per game.

The Pumas have yet to face a big school like the Royals, so tonight will be a real test for them.

The Royals, have already lost more games than last year, but hope to get their season back on track tonight. In their win over the Waconia Wildcats on the third, Blaise Beauchamp, freshman, led all scorers with 19 points. Anthony Davis, junior, added 17 points in the performance.

After tonight’s game, the Royals won’t play again till Jan. 13, when they will visit the Wayzata Trojans. Their next home game will be Jan. 14, as they will play Rosemount.
