The Hopkins Ultimate Recreational Team (HURT) is headed to Winnipeg, Canada, for an annual ‘Hold Back the Snow tournament’, playing against the top teams in Canada, this weekend. Despite graduating many key seniors last year, HURT is preparing for a successful weekend.

Last year, HURT did not win the tournament, but they are hoping to change that outcome this year.

“We didn’t win last year, but we have been grinding towards getting the first place in the Canada tournament, which is like a team tradition,” said AJ Condon, junior, captain.

Last year was Condon’s first year on HURT, and he was on varsity in that first year. Now that he is a captain, Condon is very excited to see the team’s hard-work payoff and have a good weekend up in Winnipeg.

“This weekend we are going to face the top ultimate teams in Canada, and we have been working hard this season,” Condon said. “We are looking forward to this season and we’re looking forward to taking our title back.”

HURT will be facing a variety of teams, that will include some teams from the states. The first game of the weekend for HURT will be against Winnipeg’s own and host of the tournament, Saint John Ravenscore.
