After a three set shutout against Chaska High School, the Royals look to take down the Trojans one more time.

Last time the two teams met, the Royals came out on top, but not without the Trojans putting up a fight. After four sets, the game was tied 2-2, but the Royals took the fifth set in a nail biter, 15-12, to seal the win.

The Royals are ranked fifth in state, and the Trojans close behind [sixth], this game will be an important one for the Royals. A win will secure their rightful ranking in the state leaderboard, and is especially important with the section playoffs and state tournament looming ahead.

“The team is super excited to play Wayzata [again],” said Tara Lee, junior. “Both teams know the [Lake] Conference championship is on the line so it’s going to be a fight. We have been working really hard in practice to prepare us for this match so we’re hoping it will pay off with a win.”

The Royals have not won the Lake Conference in nine years. Last year, the Eden Prairie Eagles took the Lake Conference, but with the Royals in first, they are looking to take home the hardware this year.

This match will be a blue-out, and students will receive free pizza for coming in spirit to the game.

The Royals will take on the Orono Spartans for their final regular season game, which will also be a home game, on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 8:00 a.m.
