Hopkins Swim & Dive is a tight-knit community of swimmers who have been working towards a common goal all fall. They practice everyday after school except Fridays and spend hours working on their craft outside of scheduled practice time.

The girls had a meet on Sept. 17, where they were placed near the middle of the standings. With a lot of young talent on the Varsity team this season the Royals have a lot to prove. Powerhouses like The Blake School and Farmington are starting to be upset by schools from the Lake Conference including the Royals.

Placing second in the 200 yard medley relay is an impressive achievement with a cumulative time of 1:56.34 finishing behind Minneapolis South high school. Another second place finish for the Royals came in the 100 Yard Fly event where Molly Meland finished with a time of 58.58 seconds.

The Royals are on the cusp of dominating their competition but they will need more depth to gain points in a larger variety of events. The fall season will be exciting and will grow the Royal’s reputation in the swimming community for years to come.
