Vikings preview: Visiting the Panthers

Noah Fogel, Sports Reporter

A huge win in Week 2 against the Packers was bitter sweet. Winning our first home game in U.S. Bank Stadium against our biggest rival in the league, Green Bay Packers, was extremely good for our Division Championship race but the torn meniscus of Adrian Peterson snapped fans back to reality.

This week the Vikings face the Carolina Panthers who are led by the reigning MVP, Cam Newton. They have an elite offensive line who will by far be the hardest challenge our defense has faced all season. With an injury of their own in the loss of starting running back Jonathan Stewart they will have to rely heavier on their passing game.

The Vikings also have made moves this week in picking up free agent running back Ronnie Hillman who was the backup for C.J. Anderson last season in Denver. Stefon Diggs and Sam Bradford had a great week against the Packers and carried the team to the win. Will they be able to do it again against an athletic and intelligent defense that the Panthers possess.

The game starts at noon on Sunday in Charlotte at the Panthers stadium, without Adrian Peterson the Vikings offense led by Sam Bradford will need to elevate to a new level. After a rocky start to the Panthers season with a loss to defending champs, Denver Broncos in Week 1, the VIkings have a good chance to win this game if turnovers can be limited.
