Last night the Hopkins Royals fell to the Minnetonka Skippers 0-1. The Royals were coming into the game, with an impressive 3-2 victory over the Eden Prairie Eagles on Tuesday night.

Coming into the game the Royals had a 1-2 record against Lake Conference teams this season. The Skippers, had a conference record of 3-1.

The Royals knew it was going to be tough to beat the Skippers, but they had confidence. The first half went well for both teams, as the teams held each other to no goals. As for the second half, the Skippers took a 1-0 lead. The Royals tried hard to get one back, but couldn’t, and ultimately fell to the Skippers 0-1.

Ryan St. Clair, senior, learned a lot from Thursday’s loss against the Skippers.

“We learned a lot from the loss. For most of the game we were dominating with a strong attack, but couldn’t quite finish,” St. Clair said. “The defensive line and I came up with some big stops but we couldn’t quite shut them out. A game like that isn’t all negative against a top 3 team in the state, and we need to let everyone get that in their head, and move onto the next game.”

The Royals will play their next game on Saturday night, as they head to Minneapolis Washburn, to match up against the Millers.
