Golf preview: The Ryder Cup

“If we played this hard in the tournaments back home, we’d all be millionaires,” said Arnold Palmer, former golfer, to the media in 1965.

This quote is an example of the elite level of play at this prestigious tournament that is attended by the best golfers from the United States and Europe. There are two, twelve-man teams from each place and requires a decorated past to be invited.

From Sept. 27th – Oct. 2nd the Ryder Cup will be held at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota. Which is only a twenty minute drive from HHS.

The U.S. team is led by Captain Davis Love III, who has been a part of six previous Ryder Cups will compete against the star-studded European team led by Darren Clarke.

Europe having won the past three tournaments does not bode well for the Americans who have not had a victory since 2008 at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky.

If you are looking for an exciting sporting event to attend in a couple of weekends, this is your chance to go out and watch the best golf players in the world battle head to head.
