Pacify releases first clothing collection

Promoting positivity and individuality, Pacify came to the market on May 8. Pacify was created by sisters Gabby Bolatto and Maddy Bolatto and friend Lisa Person, HHS alumni.

Pacify has three items on sale for their first spring and summer collection. Two items feature an alien girl design made by Gabby on Photoshop. One item displays three plant designs printed on mint green and yellow tee-shirts.

In the past, the Bolatto sisters and Person had worked together creatively on photography projects. Thus, when Gabby suggested the creation of a new clothing brand, the name and concept of the brand was easily drawn up within a week.

“We see the definition of ‘Pacify’ as peace and tranquility, so the name is perfect for our brand, which is all about individuality and positivity,” Gabby said.

After the team of three women decided their name, they asked themselves who they wanted to see wearing their brand.

They answered that they would like people like Willow Smith and Beyonce, who they believe are positive, powerful, and unique influences. This helped the girls choose designs to print on their shirts and visors.

Due to Gabby’s past work with clothing brand Idyll Apparel, she knew to ask this question. About a year ago, with help from other HHS friends, Bolatto started a clothing brand called Idyll Apparel. Although Gabby Bolatto isn’t involved in Idyll Apparel now, her experience with that brand helped her create Pacify.

“[Idyll Apparel] definitely helped because it’s easier to do something when you have done it before. My sister and Lisa didn’t know how to do some major steps of setting up a business. I was able to guide the process,” Gabby said.

Unlike Idyll, Gabby added an extra step at the online checkout on Pacifympls.com. The extra step includes an invitation to donate to the Pacify Mission. The Pacify team welcomes donations big and small to be given to their mission.

Person brings not only creativity to the brand but also an immense web of connections. With Person’s help, the Pacify team was able to score a venue for their release event. On May 20, the girls sold their visors, crop-tops, and tee-shirts at donut shop Sssdude Nutz in Dinkytown, Mpls.

“We are excited to introduce our brand. We’ll have a DJ and hopefully a lot of fun,” Gabby said.
