The Royals came into Tuesday’s matchup with the Minneapolis Washburn Millers coming off of a 1-9 loss to Lake Conference rival Edina (4-0).

Zach Savitz, senior, was the starting pitcher in this matchup. In his last outing, Savitz earned a save after a 1-0 win over Robbinsdale Armstrong (4-2).

The Royals started off great, scoring in the first inning before scoring twice in the second and three times in the third. By the fifth inning the Royals were up by a score of 8-0.

“We got after it from the start and handled the team pretty easily”, said Alex Schwartz, senior.

The Millers were not going to be shut out though. They put up three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning before the Royals answered with one run of their own in the top of the seventh. Geoff Cooper, senior, pitched the last inning for the Royals, shutting out the Millers to end the game and give the Royals a 9-3 victory.

The next test for the Royals will be the Red Knights from Benilde-St.Margaret’s today, Thurs. April 21.
