Royals girls basketball looks to clinch State Tournament berth

Tonight, Mar. 8, the Hopkins Royals girls basketball team will take on the Wayzata Trojans, in competition for the section 6AAAA title and class AAAA State Tournament berth. The Royals are on a hot streak and have walked through their first two games in sections, as they beat Washburn by a score of 74-27 and Cooper 80-45.

The Trojans finished fourth in the Lake Conference, five games behind Hopkins. With the state tournament approaching, the Royals are focused on perfecting their craft and playing the best basketball they can at all times.

In section play so far, Nia Hollie, senior, is leading the Royals with 14.5 PPG. For the Trojans, Hannah Heiring was the only player who averaged in double figures during the regular season. She averaged 14.5 PPG.

The Royals swept the Trojans in their two game regular season series with final scores of 74-60 and 74-36.

Tonight, the Royals will look to continue their Trojan domination at 7 p.m. at Roosevelt High School.
