Girls basketball preview: facing the Millers

Noah Fogel, Staff Reporter

The Royals girls basketball team will host their first section tournament matchup tonight against the Minneapolis Washburn Millers.

Washburn is ranked fourth in the Minneapolis City Conference with a 6-20 regular season record. This game for the Royals should be an easy win but a great opportunity to tune up their skills and plays before playing competitive games in the state tournament.

Ashley Bates and Nia Hollie, seniors, led the Royals in point scoring through a great regular season with a 24-2 record, averaging 13.7 and 16.2 PPG, respectively.

Washburn averages  44 points per game, and and over a quarter of those points come from their leading scorer Jazinae Patterson at 13.8 PPG.

Tonight’s game is at 7 p.m. in the Lindbergh Center.
