Noah Fogel, Staff Reporter

Thursday Feb. 11, the 19-2 Hopkins Royals girls basketball team will host the Edina Hornets, the third ranked team in the Lake Conference.

The Hornets are coming into the game with a 11-9 record. The Hornets are lead by leading scorer Annika Jank, who averages 14.8 points per game.

Hopkins is coming off a healthy 54-41 win against Maple Grove.

Nia Hollie, senior, leads the Royals as she averages 15.8 ppg, and is a scoring weapon not to be reckoned with. Hollie isn’t the only Royal who puts up big numbers nightly. Her supporting cast includes Ashley Bates, senior, 13.2 ppg, and Paige Bueckers, eighth grade, 9.2 ppg.

As a whole the Royals are averaging an abundant 69.5 ppg, which trumps the Hornets average of 50.2 ppg.

“It is a must win for us because we will be tied in the Lake Conference with Minnetonka,” Hollie said.

The game will be held in the Lindbergh Center at 7 p.m.
