Girls hockey hosts Wingers for season opener
Nov 5, 2015
The girls hockey team kicks off their season at home tonight against the Red Wing Wingers.
The Wingers ended the regular season last year with a record of 20-4-1 and made a run in the playoffs, finishing in third place at state. The team also finished second in the Big Nine conference in goals scored with 29.
The Royals finished their 2014-2015 season with a record of 11-12-1 and are looking for players to step up tonight, and fill in the big shoes of graduates such as: Grace Bizal, Corbin Boyd, Rachael St. Clair, and Molly Dionne.
Kylie Hanley, sophomore, might be one of those players. Hanley finished second in assists and goals last year for the team. Another one of those players might be Kate Glover, junior, who recently committed to play division one hockey at Harvard.
Returning seniors, Hope Brettingen and Hope Docter, are also looking to make an impact on the ice. The two combined for three goals and three assists last year and have both been on the varsity roster since their freshman year.
The game will be played tonight at the Hopkins Pavilion Ice Arena at 7 pm.
