By the time the Hopkins Royals reached double-digit rushing yards, Prior Lake already had a 21-0 lead.

Rushing only nine times in the first two quarters, Hopkins entered the locker room at halftime with a 28-point deficit to overcome.

In the second half, the Royals offense found its groove, rushing 20 times and putting up 32 points. However, it was too little too late.

Prior Lake’s offense was firing on all cylinders. They rushed for 211 yards and threw for 236 more, scoring an insurmountable 49 points.

Prior Lake quarterback Jimmy Larson led the Laker offense, completing 74 percent of his passes and throwing four touchdowns. He also added a score on the ground.

The final score was 49-32.

Despite the sizable defeat, Alex Bowers, senior, stood out for the Royals. Bowers caught six passes for 108 yards and two touchdowns.

Next week, the Royals will travel to Rosemount to play in a playoff game at the Rosemount High School Stadium at 7 pm.
