HHS recognizes See You At The Pole

On Sept. 23, 12 students gathered outside in front of the high school at 7 am in prayer for See You at the Pole.

See You at the Pole is an annual gathering of Christian students who come together out in front of their local school by the flagpole in front of their local school for prayer, worship, and community-building.

The tradition began in 1990 due to Christian students seeing public schools as hostile towards their identity as Christians. The word spread through people, churches, and the internet, making it the international event it is today. HHS, however, started See You at the Pole in 1998, and it has been a yearly event since.

After watching her siblings attend See You at The Pole for many years, Jane Nelson, sophomore, decided that it was her turn to show support for other Christians at HHS.

“It’s really important to let other Christians and my peers know that I am a Christian,” Nelson said.

All the students gathered in a circle and prayed for multiple topics involving the high school, but mostly for the courage of students and teachers and for the strength of each and every student at HHS. They hope that students will find their identity this year.
