The Royals will play yet another homecoming game this week. Only this time, it will be away at Wayzata.

The Trojans offer a compelling matchup for the Royals. Oscar Johnson, senior, is second in the state in passing yards per game. The Trojans, meanwhile, have intercepted eight passes this season.

Heading into last week’s matchup with Maple Grove, the Trojans were unbeaten. However, Maple Grove found a formula for beating Wayzata, rushing the ball 47 times for 200 yards and two scores.

If the Royals expect a victory this Friday, they will need to establish their rushing attack from the start. Wayzata’s defense has proven susceptible to big rushing games this year, allowing 114 yards per game.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Royals will look to stifle the prolific running game of the Trojans. Leading the charge will be linebacker Andy Aune, senior. Aune is currently second in the West Metro district in total tackles, racking up 54 tackles in just five games.

On September 25 at 7 pm, the Royals will travel to face the Wayzata Trojans at the Wayzata High School stadium.
